GKI Kebonjati – “Bonti” Church Mobile App

Goal

To design a church mobile app that feels like an extension of the community itself—welcoming, accessible, and rooted in care. The GKI Kebonjati congregation needed a way to stay connected beyond Sunday services, especially as digital engagement became increasingly essential. The app had to reflect both the spiritual warmth of the church and the practical functions needed by members.

Thought & Creation Process

The name “Bonti”—a term affectionately used within the church—was selected as the app’s identity to ensure familiarity and emotional connection. Our goal was to design a mobile experience that could serve as a digital bulletin board, devotional hub, and community tool, all in one, at your fingertips.

Design Philosophy

We wanted the app to feel more like a digital companion than a formal institutional tool. This meant:

• A dark-themed UI with gold accents to balance solemnity with elegance
• Icon-driven navigation for users of all tech skill levels
• A layout that allows members to quickly find spiritual resources and community news

• Native development for Android and iOS‍
• Admin panel integration for church staff to manage content
• Optimized asset compression to ensure smooth performance on lower-end devices

Visual Language

We built the interface with thoughtful contrast and iconography to help older users or less tech-savvy members feel confident. A clean side-menu structure ensures accessibility from the first tap. App store listings were branded to match the church’s tone, using real photography from GKI Kebonjati services.

Outcome

The app became an essential communication channel for the church, particularly during periods when physical gathering was limited. It helped:

• Strengthen real-time interaction between church and congregation
• Digitize traditional church functions without losing community warmth
• Empower members to feel spiritually engaged throughout the week
