Goal

To develop a dual wine label series for Les Roches, representing the refined qualities of their graduating students while celebrating local Swiss wine culture. The wines—produced as part of a limited run—were meant to serve as both branded memorabilia and gifts, reinforcing the school’s identity through tangible, shareable design.

Thought & Creation Process

We approached this project by asking:

If a wine could embody the spirit of a Les Roches graduate, what would it look like—and how would it feel to hold it in your hands?

The answer led to the creation of Elegant and Galant—two distinct, yet complementary personas that together form a complete expression of hospitality excellence.

Conceptual Framework

  • Elegant (Johannisberg 2013): Poised, floral, thoughtful—evoking sophistication and polish.
  • Galant (Gamélys 2013): Bold, confident, charismatic—representing leadership and charm.

The dual-label system allowed us to speak to the diversity of the student body while maintaining a unified design ethos.

Design Direction

Label Form & Structure

  • Vertical layout for modernity and strong shelf presence
  • Structured whitespace and balanced typography for visual clarity

Typography & Language

  • Bilingual (French/English) to reflect the local culture of Valais, Switzerland and the international nature of the school
  • Fonts selected to evoke a sense of heritage while remaining contemporary

Color & Symbolism

  • Elegant: Soft whites, gentle gradients, and delicate linework suggesting refinement and delicacy
  • Galant: Deep red-black palette with calligraphic overlays—dramatic and striking
  • A recurring red and white pallate loosely echoes the school logo, tying both bottles together as part of a shared lineage

Material Considerations

Labels were designed with print finishes in mind—textured paper stock and optional foil embossing to enhance the tactile experience

Outcome

The result was a set of two elegant bottles that captured the spirit of Les Roches’ values in a highly personal, visual form:

  • Reinforced the school’s brand identity in both formal and casual settings (events, alumni gifts, student showcases)
  • Honored local wine-making tradition while appealing to international aesthetics
  • Created a story-driven pairing that resonated with students, faculty, and visitors alike

These labels became more than packaging—they were a brand artifact, telling a story of tradition, growth, and global hospitality.
